5 tecnologías que van a influir en el sector de la Seguridad en 2019

Una de las tradiciones del inicio de año es escribir sobre las tecnologías que prometen impactar en el sector de seguridad durante los próximos meses. Descifrar el futuro nunca es una tarea fácil, en la medida en que nuevas tecnologías y recursos serán cada vez más importantes a largo plazo. Lo que nos interesa particularmente es observar aquellas que, a corto plazo, empiezan a agregar valor. Para 2019 observamos que esas tecnologías son extensiones de las mismas que identificamos el año anterior, y que se establecieron como oportunidades para el próximo año –lo cual es óptimo- de manera cada vez son más útiles para la industria y, claro, para los consumidores.

1 – Inteligencia Artificial
Para los más escépticos la Inteligencia Artificial (AI) aparece como una promesa que nunca se concreta, pero su avance difiere de industria a industria y de aplicación a aplicación. En la industria de seguridad electrónica, el deep-learning es utilizado principalmente para analíticas de video, pero la tecnología estará presente en muchas otras aplicaciones y productos en el futuro. Una de las tendencias en infraestructura de carreteras, por ejemplo, es el uso de analíticas de video para Detección Automática de Incidentes (DAI). Tradicionalmente, esto se da teniendo como base algoritmos fijos. La novedad para este año es que con el deep-learning, esa capacidad de análisis de tránsito alcanzará un nuevo nivel: la capacidad de detección será constantemente actualizada, lo que aumenta la precisión de esa herramienta.

2 –Cloud y Edge Computing
Son pocas las organizaciones en la esfera pública o privada que todavía no utilizan la nube en algún nivel. Por el contrario, muchas de ellas ya transfirieron toda la infraestructura a un modelo basado en la nube, es decir, centralizados en uno o más data centers. Sin embargo, aunque existan data centers con una capacidad cada vez mayor, el aumento exponencial del volumen de datos puede llegar a ser abrumador. Y este escenario es particularmente crítico en áreas como la videovigilancia, donde las demandas de datos todavía son significativas.

Es en el centro de ese tsunami de datos que el mercado tiende a ganar con los beneficios de Edge Computing o Computación de Borde. En términos simples, como su nombre lo sugiere, la computación de borde coloca más procesamiento de datos en el «borde» de la red, cerca de donde los datos son recogidos por el sensor y antes de la transferencia al centro de datos. Para nuestro sector, el recurso significa procesar datos dentro de la propia cámara para reducir significativamente las demandas de ancho de banda de transferencia y almacenamiento de datos. Además, los datos pueden ser anonimizados y encriptados antes de ser transferidos, abordando cuestiones de seguridad y privacidad.

3 – Ciberseguridad
La seguridad contra ataques cibernéticos es relativamente nueva. Durante muchos años la seguridad física era analógica. Los equipos de TI se preocupaban poco por las cámaras. Sin embargo, con la popularización de la videovigilancia digital, la situación cambió y exige nuevas adaptaciones de los profesionales del mercado, como se observará más intensamente este año. Recientemente, los gobiernos de algunos países prohibieron a ciertos fabricantes de suministrar equipos, acusando riesgos de interferencia extranjera y de invasión virtual. Una ley firmada por el presidente de los Estados Unidos prohíbe que cualquier funcionario del gobierno americano utilice dispositivos fabricados por algunas empresas chinas, sea subsidiaria o afiliada. Australia, también, en gran parte excluyó a las empresas chinas por su preocupación por la seguridad nacional. Recientemente, Bloomberg anunció que se descubrieron chips fabricados en China que podrían ser utilizados para espiar empresas norteamericanas. Esta nueva realidad requerirá aún más que los equipos de TI estén actualizados sobre las potenciales vulnerabilidades de los equipos conectados a la red.

4 – Tecnologías inteligentes para beneficiar al medio ambiente
Las analíticas de video ya son utilizados como herramienta de planificación operacional por las organizaciones que buscan mejorar la eficiencia energética en las oficinas, consecuentemente con los beneficios positivos para el medio ambiente. Uno de los ejemplos es el uso, en oficinas, de cámaras dotadas de inteligencia para identificar la cantidad de personas en el ambiente y regular el aire acondicionado a partir de ese dato.

Otro aspecto crítico que puede beneficiarse con estos sensores y fundamentos correctivos es la calidad del aire. Sea dentro de edificios o en el ambiente urbano externo, los impactos negativos en la salud y los costos asociados se están convirtiendo en un problema cada vez mayor. Los sensores inteligentes desempeñarán un papel central en la solución del problema globalmente. Estas aplicaciones dan valor agregado a las organizaciones por medio de eficiencia y economía, además de ayudar a alcanzar sus propias metas ambientales y de sostenibilidad.

5 – Integración entre sensores para respuestas inteligentes
Individualmente, los sensores, pueden brindar beneficios significativos. Sin embargo, la principal tendencia para 2019 será la combinación e integración entre diversos sensores para estimular acciones «inteligentes». Por ejemplo, en una ciudad inteligente, una cámara puede, ya este año, identificar que un vehículo acaba de estacionar en un lugar prohibido, y accionar automáticamente un altavoz con un mensaje pregrabado alertando al conductor sobre la infracción. En caso de que el mismo permanezca en el lugar, la central de control podrá recibir una alerta con información visual del vehículo y aplicar una penalización.
