En medio de la pandemia, más de siete millones de escolares volvieron a clases de forma presencial a los colegios de Colombia, luego de dos años en donde los niños y niñas tuvieron que recibir enseñanza de forma virtual.
Esa llegada a las aulas significa también que deben disponer de la seguridad física tanto en el interior como en los alrededores de las instituciones.
Como este es un tema que concierne tanto a colegios como universidades privadas y públicas, la Alcaldía Mayor de Bogotá ha intervenido integralmente a más de 170 instituciones, con el programa de Entornos Educativos Compartidos y Seguros, con una inversión superior a los 2.200 millones de pesos.
Con esta iniciativa la presente administración busca identificar y erradicar factores que pongan en riesgo la seguridad de los estudiantes en Bogotá y equiparar oportunidades y redes de relaciones de las mismas comunidades, con la premisa de que es una tarea de todos y compartida.
De esta forma, Nawel Vargas, gerente de Genetec Colombia y director de ventas de Centro América y la región Andina, hace énfasis en las grandes responsabilidades que tienen los centros educativos en garantizar no solamente la seguridad de las instalaciones, sino también la bioseguridad de los estudiantes, profesores y personal administrativo en este regreso a clases.
Mitigación de la propagación del virus
Varios estudios han demostrado que una de las claves para controlar la propagación del virus es reducir el tiempo que las personas pasan en contacto cercano en espacios cerrados. Esto puede ser un verdadero desafío ya que significa, primero, conocer la capacidad máxima permitida en espacios cerrados según lo establecido por el gobierno nacional y la comunidad médica. Luego deben contar exactamente cuántas personas hay en cada entorno en todo momento. Y finalmente, deben poder descomprimir rápidamente un espacio antes de que alcance su umbral permitido.
Al respecto, Nawel Vargas, explica: dado que los sistemas de seguridad física ya están ayudando a los colegios y universidades a realizar un seguimiento de quién está en sus campus, hay que ir más allá y pensar en las formas de usar estos sistemas para controlar aforos. Por ejemplo, agregar analíticas a un sistema de videovigilancia existente le brinda a una institución la tecnología básica necesaria para lograr una gestión efectiva de la ocupación de sus espacios.
De ahí que cada vez más, los sistemas de seguridad integrales juegan un papel importante. Antes se usaban simplemente para monitorear y registrar, ahora se pueden emplear sistemas unificados de seguridad tanto para reducir y prevenir de manera proactiva los incidentes de protección y seguridad, así como para ayudar en las operaciones que van más allá de la seguridad física.
“Genetec Security Center, es un sistema de seguridad integral fácil de usar que combina la gestión de video, control de acceso, reconocimiento de placas vehiculares, detección de intrusión y más, todo bajo una única plataforma unificada. Hay cientos de adiciones disponibles para satisfacer las necesidades únicas de las operaciones de los colegios y escuelas, lo que permite tomar mejores decisiones de seguridad y crear un entorno de aprendizaje seguro.” comentó Vargas.
Cómo gestionar la ocupación y controlar aforos
El primer paso es contar personas. Afortunadamente, las cámaras en un sistema de seguridad física pueden brindar un conteo efectivo cuando apuntan en la dirección correcta. En lugar de contratar personal adicional y confiar en el conteo manual de personas, los colegios pueden usar analíticas de video para gestionar la ocupación y automatizar alertas. Con los datos recopilados por cámaras de video, las analíticas de video rastrean la ocupación en tiempo real y luego envía alertas automáticamente cuando las áreas del campus están alcanzando su capacidad máxima. Si es necesario, el personal de seguridad puede tomar medidas para comenzar la descompresión.
Sin embargo, es importante comprender que la gestión de la ocupación es más que un simple conteo de personas. Las instituciones también deben tener la capacidad de actuar sobre la información que recopilan sus sistemas para garantizar que siempre cumplan con las pautas de capacidad y tener una trazabilidad del cumplimiento.
Adicionalmente, la gestión de la ocupación se puede mejorar aún más al unificar la videovigilancia y las analíticas de video con los sistemas de control de acceso (ACS). Una vez que se han establecido los umbrales para todas las áreas del campus, las instituciones pueden usar su ACS para controlar automáticamente la cantidad de personas en un área al establecer horarios para todos los miembros de la comunidad. De esta forma, al personal y a los estudiantes se les pueden asignar horarios específicos en los que pueden ingresar a espacios, como cafeterías o gimnasios.
Apoyo al rastreo de contactos
Hacer el rastreo de contactos manualmente requiere mucho tiempo, es ineficiente y costoso. En cambio, el uso de los datos recopilados por un ACS brinda a las instituciones una imagen clara de cuándo y dónde han estado los profesores, los estudiantes y el personal. Al trabajar con estos datos, los campus pueden determinar quién más estuvo en el mismo espacio y durante cuánto tiempo. Luego, el sistema puede notificar a cualquier persona que pueda haber estado expuesta al virus que debe verificar si tiene algún síntoma, hacerse la prueba o ponerse en cuarentena.
“Cada vez más, se percibe un mayor enfoque en unificar tecnologías y sistemas dispares y luego aprovechar esta unificación para agregar datos. De esta manera, los colegios pueden usar la gestión de ocupación para tomar decisiones basadas en datos que mantengan seguros a los profesores, el personal y los estudiantes. Ya sea que implique resolver desafíos asociados con intrusiones en el campus o informes de asistencia a eventos, estas tecnologías que las instituciones usan hoy para mitigar la propagación de COVID-19 ayudarán a proteger aún más sus campus en el futuro.” concluyó Vargas.
