Herta es una compañía con más de 10 en el mercado, creada en Barcelona (España) como spin-off de la Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña (UPC), allí desarrollaron tres tipos de biometría: iris, voz y facial. Su misión siempre ha sido ayudar a combatir el crimen y el terrorismo, de forma que en 2012 decide especializarse en una única biometría, el reconocimiento facial, siendo éste el más efectivo para la identificación de personas de interés, pero a la vez el más complejo.

Con este enfoque actualmente la compañía es reconocida en el mercado por el desarrollo de soluciones de visión por computador, ofreciendo soluciones para seguridad, control de acceso y marketing. Todos estos productos están orientados al cliente final, siendo muy fáciles de usar, escalables y fiables.

Desde 2010 en Herta se empezaron a utilizar tecnologías de GPU para la elaboración de sus algoritmos y así poder solucionar problemas de visión por computador, lo que les hizo pioneros en el uso de este tipo de tecnología para el desarrollo de la identificación facial. En 2014 empieza su internacionalización, con proyectos en diferentes países del mundo y estableciendo relaciones con grandes fabricantes de hardware, al siguiente año NVIDIA los premia como la Mejor Empresa Emergente del año y tras varios otros premios de otros partners como Axis y Milestone, en 2017 se abren oficinas en Los Ángeles, en 2018 en Singapur y en 2019 en México y Uruguay logrando así una gran expansión de la marca.  Para el 2020 la empresa empieza a ampliar su gama de productos, y así desarrollan más analíticas de vídeo, todas basadas en el análisis facial.

Actualmente Herta cuenta con más de 40 empleados a nivel global. Siendo su sede principal Barcelona, España, en dónde se encuentra su equipo de I+D y Management y apoyándose de sus otras sedes en Madrid, Montevideo, México City y Singapur dónde tienen un equipo técnico-comercial para dar soporte a partners y proyectos. Además de esto cuentan con partners en 50 países y más de 350 integradores certificados en todo el mundo para cumplir así a la gran cantidad de proyectos de ámbito internacional que poseen actualmente.

El mejor mercado para Herta es el Latinoamericano, en este cuenta con varias referencias reconocidas mundialmente, por ejemplo, diferentes estadios de fútbol de Uruguay, y colabora con agentes del orden para erradicar el vandalismo y crimen gracias a sus soluciones de identificación en vivo y forense. También en esta región obtienen importantes alianzas estratégicas gracias a sus partnerships que trabajan con diferentes fabricantes de cámaras y VMS, de esta manera puede ofrecer una solución completa al cliente.

Sus mayores referencias se encuentran en el sector de Gobierno y Fuerzas de Seguridad, eventos deportivos y centros comerciales, en dónde Herta permite detectar e identificar a personas no deseadas, controlar el acceso mediante autenticación facial y obtener información sobre los visitantes a un recinto. Sus productos son aplicados con fines de seguridad, control de acceso y marketing.

Estos productos son caracterizados por su alta la calidad entregando al cliente un balance entre precisión y rapidez, asimismo el soporte técnico y la atención post venta destacan en su servicio, ello lo demuestra el premio que obtuvieron en 2019 “Europe Customer Value Leadership” por la firma Frost & Sullivan. Para Herta el cliente es fundamental, así lo demuestran sus productos, los cuales están diseñados de cara al usuario final, convirtiéndolos en productos amigables y fáciles de usar (casi plug-and-play).

Entre su portafolio Herta destaca algunas de sus soluciones: la identificación facial en vivo y en vídeo grabado (forense). Para la identificación en vivo, BioSurveillance detecta múltiples caras a tiempo real, facilita la gestión de usuarios en cualquier momento y permite entrenar mediante captura de vídeo (on-the-fly). La versión más robusta es BioSurveillance NEXT, un reconocimiento facial de alto rendimiento especialmente diseñado para la identificación simultánea de sujetos en entornos multitudinarios y muy cambiantes (es capaz de realizar 60 millones de comparaciones por segundo, el más rápido del mercado). Para la búsqueda de un sujeto en uno o varios vídeos grabados, BioFinder trabaja con arquitectura GPU, con la cual se logra procesar a gran velocidad todas las imágenes del vídeo objeto de análisis. BioFinder además permite realizar análisis a velocidades superiores al tiempo real, de esta forma, es posible localizar a un determinado sujeto más rápido que si visualizáramos el vídeo a su velocidad original.

De igual manera la compañía recientemente ha lanzado BioObserver y BioMarketing Dashboard, productos para análisis de microexpresiones faciales y estadísticas de visitantes respectivamente.

BioObserver es una solución de análisis facial para la detección y anotación automática de los estados emocionales y micro-expresiones de una persona. Se trata de un software no-invasivo para el individuo, ya que se fundamenta en técnicas de procesado de imagen. Es capaz de detectar emociones faciales básicas como «alegría», «tristeza» o «enfado», y también micro-expresiones del rostro más sutiles como «fruncir el ceño», «parpadear» o «levantar las cejas». BioObserver permite además extraer la dirección de la mirada y la orientación de la cabeza, y monitorizar métricas comportamentales que incluyen: el grado de atención del individuo, su valencia y nivel de activación emocional. Además de etiquetar automáticamente la información facial extraída, la plataforma permite configurar anotaciones adicionales de eventos que se consideren de interés.

Conjuntamente con el BioMarketing, mediante el uso de sus algoritmos y el Deep Learning, son capaces de extraer y codificar automáticamente la información más relevante del rostro, lo que permite recopilar diferentes estadísticas de clientes. BioMarketing le permite perfilar a los visitantes en función de su rostro. Esta comprensión más profunda de sus prospectos es clave para el éxito y ayuda a maximizar el retorno de la inversión. BioMarketing también se puede integrar con dispositivos de marketing digital para publicidad dirigida. Además, es una solución que protege el anonimato de los individuos, cumpliendo así con la ley de protección de datos europea (GDPR). Toda esta información también se recopila en un tablero en línea que permite al usuario tener información en vivo sobre el comportamiento de los visitantes en su negocio.
