La Iluminación….. “Un talón de Aquiles en Seguridad”

A lo largo de los años, la industria de la seguridad, particularmente en Latinoamérica, ha sufrido durante mucho tiempo por la falta y práctica de estándares aceptados para el diseño, desarrollo e implementación de soluciones de iluminación en proyectos de seguridad en general. Incluso este tema ha sido subestimado por los mismos usuarios, quienes viendo en los sistemas de seguridad un gasto no recuperable y no una inversión que les permita mitigar las posibles amenazas y mantener la continuidad de su operación, desdeñan muchas veces por el costo, la implementación de un sistema adecuado de iluminación que motive el máximo provecho del diseño general de seguridad en sitio.

La Industria de iluminación tradicional o común, es decir, calle / urbana / comercial, etc. tienen pruebas establecidas y estandarizadas desde hace mucho tiempo con métodos que permiten comparar con precisión el desempeño de los iluminadores de acuerdo con la aplicación. Lamentablemente, este no es el caso de la iluminación aplicada a la seguridad en aplicaciones de seguridad perimetral, la video vigilancia y la inteligencia artificial de las analíticas de video.

Desde este punto, se hace necesario poder establecer estándares apropiados que permitan las buenas prácticas de diseño e implementación de soluciones de iluminación, donde hasta ahora no existe una forma estandarizada de evaluar los diferentes sistemas de iluminación aplicados a sistemas de seguridad y sus afirmaciones de rendimiento. Y lo que es más importante, no existen métodos de prueba estandarizados que los proveedores de iluminación puedan cumplir. El desempeño, eficiencia y calidad de la iluminación especializada en seguridad conocidas, se han dejado a la interpretación subjetiva de los fabricantes de manera individual, lo que da como resultado diferentes afirmaciones.

De igual forma y antes de ello, por principio de los conceptos básicos de seguridad física, la iluminación debe ser parte del esquema general de protección en sitio, no solo para fines operativos propios del usuario, sino para aumentar la posibilidad de:

  • Restringir el acceso
  • Detectar y disuadir la delincuencia
  • Proteger activos importantes

A menudo una de las primeras líneas de defensa en un sitio típico, es el uso de cámaras de video vigilancia para rodear la línea de cerca perimetral, donde también se puede utilizar en conjunto, otros dispositivos como parte del sistema en general. Para que las cámaras sean eficaces y proporcionen imágenes útiles al personal de seguridad, día o noche, la iluminación de alta calidad es esencial e imperativa.

Junto con la elección de una cámara y la lente, la iluminación es la herramienta más poderosa para ayudar a lograr un rendimiento nocturno excepcional de cualquier sistema de video vigilancia profesional. Pero con muchas soluciones de iluminación diferentes disponibles en el mercado hoy en día, puede resultar difícil comparar con precisión el rendimiento de un iluminador con respecto a otro.

¿Por qué es tan difícil comparar iluminadores?

Actualmente, los fabricantes publican información técnica muy limitada sobre el rendimiento de su iluminación para video vigilancia, la mayoría solo cita un máximo de distancia. Sin estandarización, métodos para calcular el desempeño, especialmente la distancia y ángulo, siempre se ha dejado abierta a la interpretación, lo que da a diferentes afirmaciones.

No es raro tener dos iluminadores con una salida de luz similar, que se cotizan con distancias máximas tremendamente diferentes, porque cada fabricante tiene una opinión diferente sobre lo que se considera como una imagen de calidad aceptable.

Por ejemplo, un fabricante puede adoptar una visión realista y cotizar 150 metros, pero el otro puede tener una visión demasiado optimista y calificar este mismo producto para 250 metros. Esto es especialmente importante si está comparando un iluminador con otro que promete una calidad de imagen casi idéntica a un nivel similar de distancia.

¿Cómo saber que dos iluminadores son realmente iguales?

En realidad, es posible que un iluminador haya sido probado con muchas cámaras de alto rendimiento, aumentando su capacidad, sin embargo, tenga cuidado: así es como suele suceder que un iluminador pequeño o de menor rendimiento, pudiera superar a un iluminador de mayor rendimiento en papel.

En algunos casos, la Luz Blanca puede ser elegida para iluminar todo un perímetro, pero debido a la posible contaminación lumínica que pueda generar, y el hecho de que la cámara es más receptiva a la luz IR, implica a menudo, que la Luz Blanca sea preferida solo como elemento disuasivo

Otra opción que los especialistas en seguridad deben considerar, es el uso de iluminadores híbridos. Este tipo de lámparas proporcionan una solución todo en uno, combinando luz IR y luz blanca en una sola unidad. Esto significa que un iluminador se puede utilizar tanto para la vigilancia encubierta, como un elemento disuasorio en el caso de la luz blanca.

Análisis de cámara

Proporcionar una forma eficaz de determinar si se está produciendo un comportamiento sospechoso o indeseado en el campo de vista de una o varias cámaras, es un requerimiento que cada vez más demandado en los actuales sistemas de video vigilancia con uso de analíticas de video. Sin embargo, el análisis de la cámara es tan efectivo como su capacidad para proporcionar una imagen clara y coherente. Aquí es donde la iluminación juega un papel importante.

El análisis de la cámara a menudo requerirá mayores niveles de luz en comparación con las aplicaciones estándar. Incluso la mejor las cámaras seguirán produciendo
