La llegada de la tecnología especializada de inyección de tinta para la personalización segura de tarjetas de identificación y tarjetas financieras ha abierto nuevos mercados y ha transformado los mercados tradicionales. En esta oportunidad vamos a explora cómo la inyección de tinta UV y el grabado láser están ofreciendo soluciones de personalización más idóneas y seguras para aplicaciones de gran volumen en el sector gubernamental, financiero, empresarial y oficinas de servicios.
El cierre de una brecha
Las opciones de personalización segura de tarjetas financieras y de identificación de la actualidad salvan una importante brecha que existía entre la tecnología que emplea cintas, la cual no ofrece resultados idóneos en cuanto a nitidez de la impresión ni ventajas en costos, y los grandes equipos de emisión centralizada, cuya implementación, actualización y mantenimiento pueden resultar más difíciles.

La tecnología del cabezal de impresión, las tintas con formulaciones especiales y las técnicas de curado de tinta UV LED trabajan en conjunto para depositar y curar miles de gotas de tinta microscópicas en múltiples superficies de tarjetas con un tamaño y ubicación óptimos, como tarjetas de policarbonato, de PVC pulido prensado, tarjetas con tecnología de compuesto (PET/PVC con revestimiento externo de PVC), PVC laminado (con fabricación de tarjeta de crédito) y tarjetas de PVC que se pueden marcar con láser. La potente luz ultravioleta seca el texto y las imágenes casi de inmediato, incluso cuando se imprime a una resolución de hasta 1200 DPI. Para lograr una durabilidad aún mayor, se puede colocar una capa de tinta transparente sobre las imágenes y el texto después de aplicar las gotas de tinta de color. Todo esto se logra con un costo por tarjeta hasta un 80 por ciento menor en comparación con las impresoras que emplean tecnología DTC/ retransferencia, las cuales generan una considerable cantidad de residuos pues utilizan un kit completo de paneles de cinta para cada diseño de tarjeta.
Como alternativa a los equipos de emisión central, las nuevas impresoras de inyección de tinta también permiten una mejor gestión de riesgos. Reemplazar un solo equipo grande con varias unidades de escritorio brinda la redundancia necesaria para garantizar la continuidad de la productividad de la impresión, sin interrupciones, incluso en el caso de que una impresora no funcione. La sencillez en la implementación y el mantenimiento de las unidades de escritorio también reduce los gastos, al igual que la eliminación de los residuos de las cintas, sumado al mayor costo total de propiedad que tiene un equipo de emisión central para los modelos que utilizan cintas.
Qué tener en cuenta al elegir una impresora
Hay varias características importantes a tener en cuenta cuando se evalúan las opciones de personalización segura de tarjetas financieras y de identificación. Además de evaluar la calidad de impresión, una de las características más valiosas es una arquitectura modular de los sistemas. La posibilidad de comprar sistemas de impresión y grabado láser juntos o como unidades independientes y por separado garantiza que se pueda agregar valor con el tiempo, cuando sea necesario.

Para los usuarios son tan fáciles de usar como las impresoras de escritorio con tecnología DTC y de retransferencia pero sin necesidad de incurrir en los elevados costos que implica el uso de cintas. Además, los usuarios obtienen un costo total de propiedad menor al de los equipos de emisión central y disfrutan de nuevas oportunidades de implementación, actualización y expansión de las prestaciones a medida que vayan evolucionando las necesidades de las compañías.
