Con el desarrollo de nuevas tecnologías, las grandes ciudades han sufrido constantes cambios con el paso del tiempo, mismo que han dado la pauta para la modernización de los sistemas convencionales brindando una integración innovadora en la infraestructura con gestión inteligente. Las implementaciones que se han gestado para la consolidación de ciudades más inteligentes en Sudamérica, han permitido que la región comience una verdadera transformación digital, en donde la videovigilancia ha significado un elemento clave para un mundo más innovador, teniendo como ejemplo algunos países donde ya ha comenzado esta transición.
En Chile, los esfuerzos de las autoridades por la construcción de espacios más seguros e inteligentes, han promovido mejores prácticas, pues de acuerdo al informe realizado por el Centro de Globalización y Estrategia y el Departamento de Estrategia de la IESE Business School, la capital del país se encuentra catalogada como la ciudad más inteligente de América Latina.
En este sentido, las tecnologías de Axis han contribuido a la mejora en la calidad de vida de los habitantes chilenos, pues desde 2017, y a raíz de un terremoto que alcanzó una magnitud de 8,4 y un posterior tsunami, la municipalidad de Concón decidió implementar la instalación de todo un sistema de cámaras y megafonía que contribuyera a resolver los problemas en materia de seguridad de la comunidad, además de brindar asistencia en caso de emergencia.
Las ciudades inteligentes no sólo contribuyen a mejorar la eficacia operativa para responder a los incidentes que se presentan, sino que permiten colaborar en la búsqueda de espacios más sostenibles, con infraestructuras más inteligentes. Un ejemplo de estos esfuerzos se vio realizado en Huancayo Perú, que se enfrentaba a una alta actividad delictiva, con un aumento a secuestros, extorsiones y ataques de sicarios.
A partir de estas necesidades, se realizó la instalación de un innovador sistema que tenía como primera etapa la supervisión de las zonas más vulnerables que eran afectadas por la delincuencia. Huancayo adquirió un total de 50 cámaras Axis, que han superado las expectativas de las autoridades, pues ha permitido responder con rapidez y prevenir incidentes, lo que, a su vez, ha optimizando el trabajo del centro de supervisión de videovigilancia al ofrecerle la posibilidad de un seguimiento ininterrumpido como resultado de las imágenes captadas por las cámaras.
Por último, se encuentra la nueva dirección que ha tomado la municipalidad de Vicente López en Argentina, que ha incorporado más de 800 cámaras de última generación en edificios gubernamentales, vía pública, medios de transporte y vehículos de prevención, que han permitido realizar un monitoreo permanente para mantener la seguridad en la región, con el objetivo de brindar un entorno más seguro a los ciudadanos.
La tecnología se ha convertido en un instrumento esencial de las ciudades inteligentes, y aunque no es el único factor para garantizar la implementación de proyectos eficaces, son el acercamiento directo para prevenir, reaccionar, responder y resolver incidentes a través de soluciones flexibles y escalables de videovigilancia.
